These are exciting times here at Drystone Radio HQ.
You may have heard a rumour that we are opening a community café, well don’t worry… it’s true. Café 106.9FM is nearly here. It’s going to be daytime café bar, evening arts scene, and focal point for the community right here in Cowling, next to the old post office. We will only sell local produce in order to help sustain the local economy.

Your community station is doing all it can to work towards social gain, through inclusion, training and entertaining. We have more than seventy valued volunteers that have helped to get us where we are today. This is your radio station for your community. It’s what you make it.

Drystone Radio has been on FM for more than 8 months now and broadcasting over the internet since 2003. We now have more hours of live broadcasting than ever before, lots of new presenters as well as all your old favourites.

The sports show has grown from strength to strength recently. Drystone Sport can offer you something that you just can’t get anywhere else. The sports team will give you live sports updates from YOUR local team! That’s right we have reporters covering games right across South Craven and The Dales in rugby, cricket, football and even pigeon racing, (I think). David and David in Studio will bring you live updates from other sporting games from Yorkshire and rest of the country too with the assistance of producer Sam. You can catch the sport show on Saturday from 3pm

The Love-in 2 are back, after a short break the Loving 2 couple, Christine and Andrew Gale are back for another season of broadcasting from bed. The format is in the style of the Richard and Judy Show: topical chat with gentle humour. You can catch the Love-in 2 Show Wednesdays at 10pm and repeated Saturdays at 1pm
Drystone Radio is proud to welcome Bazzzman to the team with his new Sunday night show. Bazzzman is more peculiar than a tarantula/penguin cross bread, you just don’t know what to expect with him. Tune in Sunday’s at 9pm for the Bazzzman Show with his magic smarties, prank phone calls and loads more exciting features.
Andy Jackson’s Reapers Rock Show is the radio rock show everyone is talking about. Andy’s passion and knowledge for rock is second to none. Tune in Wednesdays at 9pm for a wild blend of classic rock from the likes of Def Leppard and Guns N Roses. And if you like that you will love Hang These DJs on Saturday at 8pm.
Another new-comer is Stephen B, (not to be confused with Stevie C), he will brighten up your work day on Thursdays from 1pm in a brand new show called Aire Time (see what we did there?).
And guess what? Paddy B is bringing back Vinyl. He is a four decade DJ from the sixties to the nineties with enough vinyl to lay floors across the whole of South Craven. You can catch Paddy B’s Vinyl Time at 3pm Sunday. Just after Drystone Radio’s very own brass band show: Strike up the Band with the one and only Mike Boothroyd.
For folk folk Monday night is the night, Jonathan Taylor kicks it off straight after The Drystone Drive Home at 6pm with Devil Train, followed by Colin Dobson’s Yorkshire Folk at 7pm, which takes us up to Stan Graham’s Akoustik Hour. Stan presents the best in folk and acoustic music. This is followed by Jess Taylor’s Industic Show, which is an entire hour dedicated to indie and acoustic music. Monday is truly a night not to miss, right here on Drystone Radio.
Tuesday is not for the faint-hearted Ben Sullivan’s Thunder Clash is an apocalyptic chart show, but stay tuned because at 9pm you can catch Ben’s post-watershed show Thunder Clash the Meltdown, who knows what could happen?
Although the first season of Coming out Tonight with Stevie C has come to an end fear not because Stevie C is still running his theatrical show Strictly Musicals on a Sunday evening and he will be back for a another season of Coming Out Tonight in the winter. In the meantime Mickey T from The Bay Horse will be Taking You Out on a Thursday night from 9pm.
For the more unconventional of you there is always Friday nights to entertain you with Nib E’s Counter Culture at 9pm and Joe Young’s Off The Wall at 11pm.
If you prefer a more Staple diet of … say Haggis? You had best tune in Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 1pm-3pm for a tickle with a thistle, A classic Drystone show; Haggis For Lunch with Ben Tierney.
We all love a good lie in, especially on the weekend. On Saturday Pauline will ease you into the weekend with a little local literature and village history in Pauline’s Pages, followed by Sam Chapman’s live Classical Gas. On Sunday you are in for a real treat with Ellen’s Sunday Lie In, which is followed by our very own magazine programme A View from the Pinnacle with David Adams.
What About Martin Green I hear you scream? Well don’t worry all your old favourite shows are still here, including Dales Live with Martin green, The 16 Bit Show with Earby 2, Taroscope with Veronica, Community News with Kevin Sharp; Theatre for the Ear; Local Vocal; Nightly Novel; Soft Rock Classics; and Vocal Touch with Alan Brown. Phew!
So why are you still reading this? You should be tuning into Drystone Radio, which broadcasts on 106.9FM and streams across the internet from the Yorkshire Dales, at www.drystoneradio.com
If there is nothing there that takes you fancy, we must be doing something wrong. Feel free to tell Laura if you think we are getting it wrong, she will do everything she can to put it right (and won’t be too offended). We love new ideas here at Drystone Radio and are ALWAYS looking for new volunteers. Remember this radio station is as good as you make it.

Drystone Radio Car Stickers

We have had quite a few Drystone
Radio car stickers made.
